Dosage: at the first sign of constipation, take 1 dose up to 3 times daily.
Adults: 1 rounded teaspoon (7 g). Children (6 to 12 years): 1/2 rounded teaspoon (3.5 g). Children 6 years and under: consult a physician.

Direction of use: put the powder in a glass and add 250 ml (8 oz) of cold liquid. Stir briskly and drink immediately. Taking an additional glass of liquid may be helpful. Maintain adequate fluid intake. Take 2 hours before or after taking other medications. Effects observed 12 to 24 hours after first dose, and may take 2 to 3 days. New users: start by taking 1 dose each day. Gradually increase to 3 doses per day if needed or recommended by your doctor. If minor gas or bloating occurs, reduce the amount you take until your system adjusts.

CAUTION: Keep this and all medication out of reach of children. Consult a health care practitioner if symptoms worsen or if laxative effect does not occur within seven days. Do not take a laxative within 2 hours of taking any other medicine. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking medications which inhibit peristaltic movement. AVOID INHALATION. May cause an allergic reaction in people sensitive to inhaled or ingested psyllium. Taking this product without adequate fluid may cause it to swell and block your throat or esophagus and may cause choking. Consult a health care practitioner immediately if you experience chest pain, vomiting, or difficulty in swallowing or breathing after taking this product. Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you have symptoms such as abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting or fever. Do not take any type of laxative for more than 1 week unless your physician has ordered a special schedule for you. Do not interrupt medication. Do not swallow in dry form.

CONTRAINDICATIONS: Do not use if you have difficulty swallowing. Do not use if you have diabetes mellitus in which blood sugar is difficult to regulate. Do not use if you are experiencing a sudden change in bowel habits that has persisted for more than 2 weeks, undiagnosed rectal bleeding, or failure to defecate following the use of another laxative product.

KNOWN ADVERSE REACTIONS: Hypersensitivity, such as allergy, has been known to occur following inhaled and/or ingested psyllium; in which case, discontinue use. May cause temporary gas and/or bloating.
