- if you are elderly and experience confusion at nighttime since this drug may produce excitation rather than sedation and should be avoided
- with any other products containing diphenhydramine, even one used on skin

- have, glaucoma, chronic lung disease, difficulty urinating due to enlarged prostate
- are, pregnant or breastfeeding, taking sedatives or tranquillizers, taking other medication

- sleeplessness lasts more than 2 weeks as this may be a symptom of a serious underlying condition
